Review

  • We can see from Scriptures that, actually, what God wants for our life does NOT automatically work out in our experience
    • Being saved by grace does NOT mean our response is not required!
    • We are told in Philippians 2 that because it is God who is at work in us, we need to work out our salvation!
    • That is why we can be entitled to things by grace that we do not experience
    • But it does not need to be that way
  • Experiencing His great salvation starts with receiving the Savior 
    • What really satisfies, makes free, heals, is our coming to KNOW Him
    • Knowing Him is what we were made for
  • Prov. 4:23 tells us the issues of life flow from our heart
    • So what is going on in our hearts affects what we experience

 

  • So what different truths can we use to watch over our hearts?
    • God is FOR US!
      • He wants us to experience salvation more that we want to experience salvation. Always. He’s not opposing us
    • WE CAN and MUST watch over hearts! That sets the stage for what we experience
    • Commands He has given in Scriptures are at least partly about setting an ‘atmosphere’ in our hearts that allows salvation to be experienced…things can v

 

Main Points today

  • Life flows from what is in your heart so GUARD
    • Beware: what grieves Him
    • Beware: presumption
    • Beware: anxiety
    • Beware: condemnation
    • Beware: thoughts that persuade you - give up, impossible for YOU
    • Be filled: 
      • with Holy Spirit!
      • truth: I am ALREADY forgiven
      • truth: I have peace with God!
      • thankfulness, rejoicing, 
      • Forbearing spirit
    • Deliberately: Give thanks, Rejoice, pray
