what God has doneReview:
- What is God after in your life? To make you like Jesus His Son
- This is eternal life - that you might know him
- We are blessed, but our experience of that can be limited - don’t want to know about a great salvation and yet experience it little
- should not settle for this!
- Grace does NOT mean the things God offers automatically just work into our experience
- There is a need to WORK OUT YOUR SALVATION
- Starts with having a great salvation - need to be born again
Summary:
- Experiencing God’s huge salvation involves personal response to Jesus
- what else could it be? Can we impress God? NO
- Salvation includes SO MUCH
- we experience less than what He has revealed is available
- He tells us we MUST
- At its core: we have been restored to connection to Him whereby we can come to know Him
- God requires our participation
- eg. Cain: God did not restrain him but TALKED to him, reasoned with him to make a particular choice
- GRACE does NOT mean His will automatically works out
- My life will flow out of what fills my heart (Pr. 4:20)
- “Salvation” is used to refer to more than one thing
- “Born again”
- Benefitting from what Jesus purchased
- e.g. physical healing
- Experiencing salvation matters: your evangelism is more convincing if people see YOU being changed by what you believe…
- Experiencing salvation is centred on KNOWING HIM
- e.g. 2Peter1, Eph 1
So who wants the most for you to experience salvation?
- HE does!
- God is for me in it! That is primary motivation
Things to be considered:
- renewing of your mind (Rom. 12)
- the atmosphere we work in: the fruit of the Spirit
- The word of God is a gift given to help you receive/work out salvation
